conditions of hire

BIKE HIRE

DEPOSIT AND SECURITY : Before the commencement of any hiring we will require some satisfactory form of deposit as security against the non return of the cycles and accessories (called the equipment) and to cover such damage to the equipment that is not normal wear and tear.

CREDIT CARD DEPOSIT : the easiest form of deposit is in the form of a valid credit card, No money is drawn on your account and the security of your card is not compromised, On return you may pay by your preferred method

CASH DEPOSITS : When no credit or debit cards are available we suggest that you contact us in advance and we can advise on other forms of deposit. We may require that a refundable cash deposit covers the full replacement cost of the equipment on hire.

CCTV : The shop and hire centre are covered by a video security system; all hiring's are recorded as an additional security measure

INJURY AND THIRD PARTY DAMAGE : TT cycles and the Lock Inn is covered in respect of public liability. However the hirer is responsible for any injury or damage caused.

USE OF THE KENNET AND AVON CANAL TOWPATH : Cyclists using the Kennet and Avon canal towpath do so with the consent of British Waterways and on condition that they abide by the cyclists code. Copies of the code are available at the shop. The main points in the code are: show consideration to others; be prepared to give way to walkers if the width or condition of the towpath dictates; dismount under bridges or if the path is crowded; do not speed and give early warning of your presence.

PUNCTURES : All our bikes are fitted with puncture protection. However, punctures can happen and a repair kit is provided free of charge. The kit contains the items listed below and the lock key is attached to the bag. We do not charge you for being unlucky, but a puncture does not entitle you to a refund. Non returned repair kit bags will be charged at £40.00.

BREAK DOWNS OR ACCIDENTS : In the event of a break-down or accident, telephone for instructions. We cannot guarantee a collection service but where such collections are made they will normally incur a labour charge in line with our current workshop rate in addition to a mileage charge

LOCKING BIKES : Locks are provided free of charge and should be used at all times when bike’s are left unattended.

GROUP HIRINGS : Large group hiring should sub-divide into smaller groups when cycling on the towpath. With such large groups i.e. more that ten, we recommend having at least 1 mechanically experienced rider with them with basic repair tools, spares and a first aid kit. Please ask if you require advice

EXTENDED TOURING OR TRAIL RIDING : Our hire equipment is supplied by the highest quality manufacturers, is maintained by qualified staff, and replaced on a regular basis. However cycling and in particular tandem touring put a heavy workload on even the best equipment, which can result in repairs being necessary whilst on hire. Any such work carried out by any bike shop or other person is at the expense of the hirer and TT cycles will not reimburse any such expenses, it is therefore important that you are satisfied to the condition of such equipment prior to departing on long rides.

On canals, the following are the main points to observe; pull to the right when necessary, do not take canoes through locks; and do not moor on the non-towpath side or at bridges where “no moorings signs” are displayed.
